The bigger picture

Your accounts are separate.
Your strategy shouldn’t be.

A shared retirement goal can span different employers, providers, and investment menus. Give each account a role in the whole.

01 / HOUSEHOLD COORDINATION

Two careers. One direction.

Your 401(k), your partner’s 401(k), an IRA on the side. Plan across them together, while keeping ownership and account balances separate.

02 / DIFFERENT FUNDS, ONE MIX

Let each account play to its strengths.

One plan has the stock fund you want. Another has your preferred bond fund. Build around the options you choose in each account, without forcing an identical mix everywhere.

03 / A CLEARER CHECK-IN

See how the whole picture has shifted.

Markets move. Contributions add up. A combined view helps you see how your household’s investment mix compares with the target you’ve chosen.

04 / LESS SPREADSHEET WORK

Go from percentages to a plan.

Translate a household target into account-by-account allocations. Review what goes where, with a clear path back to your goals if something doesn’t fit.

What if my accounts have different tax rules?

Coordinating an investment mix does not combine your accounts or change their tax treatment. Rollovers, Roth conversions, backdoor IRA strategies, and tax optimization are outside the scope of this page. Confirm tax-sensitive decisions with a qualified professional.
